Biography

Eileen Wright – A native of Philadelphia, Pa. Ms. Wright started her studies on the violin at the age of 10 with Louis Lanza of the Philadelphia Orchestra. She went on to graduate cum laude with her Bachelors of Music Education with a violin concentration from Temple University’s Boyer College of Music. While at Temple she studied with Luis Biava, former assistant conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra, principal 2nd violin with the Philadelphia Orchestra and presently Conductor of the Temple University Symphony Orchestra.

Ms. Wright received her Master of Arts in Instrumental Conducting at The College of New Jersey where she studied with Arnold Grossi, former 1st violin of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Ms. Wright taught strings in the Philadelphia Public Schools for 17 years before she came to Arizona. In Philadelphia she instituted the first Suzuki Cello Program in the Philadelphia Public Schools. Because of her daughter’s arthritis Ms. Wright moved her family to Arizona.

Ms. Wright has been Orchestra Director at Saguaro High School since 1999, achieving many superior ratings and performances throughout the United States. In this capacity she has also been Orchestra Chair of the Central Regional Orchestra. Ms. Wright was also the editor of the Arizona String Teachers Association Publication. Ms Wright recently directed the Scottsdale Unified School District Advanced Honors Orchestra. She has been on faculty at SCC as Orchestra Director since Fall 2014
